Heat transition: infrared heating instead of an electric heat pump?

When researching the heat transition online, the very expensive "electric heat pump" is often recommended as a good solution by "experts".
"Infrared heating systems with or without photovoltaic installations" should be known and mentioned as an economical and ecological alternative.

Infrared heating including photovoltaic systems?

There are two research reports you should be aware of: PROJECT HOMEPAGE DR.-ING. PETER KOSACK

1st research report:
"Exemplary comparative measurement between infrared radiant heating and gas heating in old buildings, project period: 2008 – 2009"
Status: Version 1; Status: October 2009
Page 34:
"Compared to the low-temperature gas heating (NTG) the final energy consumption of the infrared heating (IR) is only 34.1%, and for the gas heating using condensing technology only 37.9%.
That means the final energy consumption of the gas heating is more than 2.5 times that of the infrared heating.

2nd research report:
"Participation in the research project "Potential of IR heating systems for highly efficient residential buildings (short title: IR-BAU)" of the Konstanz University of Applied Sciences (HTWG). Project period: 2017 to 2019"
Status: "Final project report: status: 02/2020"

If you don't want to read everything, you can first read the "Conclusion/Outlook" (from page 197).

Infrared heating including photovoltaic systems and/or small wind turbines and/or energy storage (battery, ...) may possibly be a better ecological and economic alternative for your building.
A heating system is a very long-term and major investment (25 years and more). Infrared heaters are maintenance-free and have low wear.

Electricity (renewable) in particular is made significantly more expensive/disadvantaged in Germany compared to natural gas due to very high taxes and levies.

You can produce electricity yourself with your own small wind turbine, and also cheaply with your own photovoltaic system.
This provides a lot of (cheaper) self-produced electricity for the electric heating, electric car and other electrical consumers in the home.
